north ward shippon

A spacious, holiday cottage in a beautiful location in Devon. The Shippon is situated close to the river within the Tamar Valley, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. This is an ideal Devon holiday for two people who want seclusion and easy access to Dartmoor and the coast. Another couple can be comfortably accommodated in the living room on request. If you wish further accommodation North Ward Cottage is next door.

The garden has two small ponds and therefore unsuitable for children under seven. Babies and one well behaved dog are welcome. This Devon self-catering holiday cottage is set within its own grounds and there is parking space for two cars.

Located within a small Devon hamlet, the Shippon holiday cottage has a garden on two levels. The upper garden has splendid views of the River Tamar and Calstock. Water features are tastefully landscaped with ornamental trees, shrubs, bullrushes, irises and water lilies. To fully enjoy the garden in the summer there are sun loungers and a hammock for lazing in the sun, and a picnic table and barbecue for al fresco dining.

dartmoor

Dartmoor National Park is an easy drive from the holiday cottage. There are many activities to enjoy, walking, horse riding, wild swimming and letterboxing. There is an information centre in Princetown. Lydford Gorge, run by the National Trust, has a wonderful river gorge to explore. The Granite Way, the Lydford to Okehampton cycle track, with its moorlands views is a must for the cyclist

the coast

The attractive National Trust beaches of Wembury, on the South Devon coast and Sandymouth Beach, a dog friendly beach, on the North Cornwall coast are approximately an hours' drive away. Other beaches on this coastline are the surfing beaches of Crackington Haven and Widemouth. All four beaches provide foot access to the superb South West Coastal Path.
